Terms & Conditions of Dog Grooming Services at Posh Paws Parlour, Luton

Before making a booking, you must agree to read this document. All your data is confidential and will not be shared with any third party. Please inform us of any changes in your dogs' health or behaviour and your personal details to allow us to continue to provide a service tailored to your dogs' needs.

By making a booking with Posh Paws Parlour, you agree to our standard Terms & Conditions as set out herein:

Drop Off and Pick Up Times

Posh Paws Parlour operates a 1-to-1 service to our customers by appointment only. We do not have any holding crates, so please ensure that you arrive promptly for your appointment. If you are late arriving (5-10 minutes), we will do everything possible to accommodate you, it may result in us being unable to fully complete your dogs groom. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, it will be rearranged to another date. This is due to having a shorter amount of time to complete your dogs groom and subsequent appointments afterwards. This will still be charged at full price of the appointment.

Collection: We will always send you a text message around 15-30 minutes before your dog is ready for collection. A text time will be discussed with you before you leave your dog with us, so we know how much time you would require in advance for travelling. If you are more than 15 minutes late collecting your dog at the agreed time, there will be an extra charge of £5 per every 15 minutes. This is due to affecting subsequent appointments which would need to be moved to a later time.

Cancellation Policy

Please get in touch ASAP if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment with us. We require a minimum of 24hrs notice before the confirmed date for any cancellations. Any notice after this period or a no show to the appointment will be charged at full price. This cancellation fee will need to be paid before booking another appointment.

Grooming Accidents Disclaimer

Your dogs’ safety and wellbeing is our absolute number one priority and every effort will be made to ensure this. I am canine first aid trained and fully insured, however, please be aware accidents do happen when working with animals and sharp tools. These included cuts, nicks, scratches, over trimming of nails etc. Should an incident occur and your dog needs to be taken to a vet, we will not be held liable for costs incurred. We will of course inform you if any problems are encountered during your dogs’ groom.

Matted Coat Policy

In the event that your dog's coat needs to be clipped down to release it from matting or coat neglect, Posh Paws Parlour by Machaela Barden, it's owner and operator are not liable for any post-grooming effects of this procedure, which is not without risk.

Any humane de-matting will be undertaken solely at my discretion, in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006 (Clause 5 - Animals are to be protected from pain, injury and suffering). De-matting during a routine groom is limited to a maximum of 20 minutes and is only possible if the matting is minimal. For severely matted coats where de-matting isn't possible, the only humane way to deal with this will be to completely clip off the coat.

Where pets are heavily matted, an extra charge between £5-£15 to remove the coat will apply, on top of the regular groom price.

Bitches in Season

Whilst it is possible to groom a bitch in season, it may not be the most comfortable time for your dog and could cause extra stress. Their behaviour and coats are also susceptible to change during this time, possibly making the grooming process more difficult and stressful. It could also have a negative effect on following appointments with male dogs, due to the hormonal scent of a bitch in season. Even though a deep clean would be carried out, it is still possible for the scent to linger. For these reasons we apologise but we are not able to groom bitches in season. Please let us know before your appointment if this is the case and we will rearrange to another date when the season has finished.

Fleas

Please inform us asap if your dog has fleas before coming for your appointment as we will need to rearrange to another date. However, I do understand that you may not notice if your dog has a few fleas. If I find any during your dogs grooming session, I will give your dog a Flea Shampoo which will help to kill all fleas living on your dog. However, it will not solve the problem entirely. You will need to treat your house with a household flea spray, wash your dogs bed and any blankets/covers that the dog may sleep on, vacuum your house and treat your dog with a spot-on flea treatment from your vets. Our Flea Shampoo charge is £10.

Photos

By signing our T&C's you are agreeing to have your dogs photo shown on our website and social media pages. Please let us know if you do not agree to this and we will not share them. Thank you.

Aggressive Dogs: The Dangerous Dogs Act

I reserve the right to refuse to groom any dog at risk of harming me or itself. If your dog is accepted for grooming and displays aggression that I have not been informed of during it's session, the groom will be terminated immediately. You will be contacted to collect your dog. The full starting price of the groom will be charged.

You must inform me prior to grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression. Failure to disclose this information may result in refusal of further services. You are legally required to disclose any past or present aggressive behaviours shown by your dog.

Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act, which holds owners liable for bites and injuries caused by their dogs.
